On June 23, the development of the BMW Group in the Chinese market reached another important milestone. BMW Brilliance's Plant Lydia was officially opened.
With the total investment of CNY 15 billion, Plant Lydia is the biggest single investment in the history of BMW in China.
Plant Lydia is located in Tiexi District, Shenyang, covering an area of 2.9 million square meters.
At present, the production lines of body, painting and final assembly and auxiliary facilities such as large data center, communication center and logistics center have been put into use.
The stamping shop will be completed in the Phase 2.
With the opening of Plant Lydia, overall production capacity at the BMW's Shenyang Production Base increases to 830,000 units per year.
The brand new BMW i3, BMW's first all-electric mid-size sports sedan, has already started production here.
Since 2010, investment into the BMW's Shenyang Production Base has totaled CNY 83 billion, and Shenyang has become the largest production base of the BMW Group in the world.
The opening of the new plant will bring new boost to the economic development of Liaoning and Shenyang.
