On September 4th, the 14th Conference on ASEAN-China People to People Friendship Organization opened in Penang, Malaysia. The conference was hosted by the Malaysia-China Friendship Association and attended by over 200 representatives from ASEAN friendship associations and relevant Chinese delegations. The convening of this conference coincides with the 32nd anniversary of the establishment of dialogue relations between China and ASEAN, the 10th anniversary of the proposal of jointly building the "the Belt and Road" initiative, and the 10th anniversary of the establishment of a comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Malaysia. The conference, with the theme of "Post Covid ASEAN China Cooperation: Strengthening Connectivity and Striving Quality Development", was the first face-to-face exchange between China and ASEAN friendship organizations from various countries after the pandemic.

In order to strengthen "Foreign Affairs+", and build a " World Class Shenyang", further enhance the overseas influence of the "Hello, Shenyang" city brand, and further strengthen ties with Shenyang's international sister cities, the working group from Shenyang People’s Association of Friendship with Foreign Countries organized the "Hello, Shenyang" global promotional activity (Malaysia station) during the conference, and presented city promotional brochures to representatives from ASEAN countries. Reaching to friendship organizations, enterprises, business associations, media of ASEAN countries, the promotional activity showcased Shenyang's long history and culture, rich industrial culture, colorful ethnic culture, as well as significant geographical advantages, deep industrial foundation, rich cultural and tourism resources, and open, dynamic, modern, and inclusive urban characteristics. The activity introduced the achievements of Shenyang in promoting high-level opening-up and quality development, as well as its main practices in promoting urban internationalization and improving foreign-related public services. It provided attendees with a multi-dimensional understanding and perception of Shenyang and sincerely invited friends from ASEAN countries to come to Shenyang for visit, investment and business development, and promote all-round and in-depth exchanges and cooperation between Shenyang and ASEAN.

The Chinese Embassy in Malaysia highly praised the "Hello Shenyang" global promotion activity (Malaysia station), and the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries stated that it will actively support and promote local people-to-people friendly exchanges between Shenyang and ASEAN countries. Pro.Phua Kok Khoo, President of Singapore- China Friendship Association, stated that the economic and social development of Shenyang is impressive, and he felt that the people of Shenyang are living a happy and fulfilling life. Raul L. Lambino, Chairman of the Association for Philippines-China Understanding expressed the hope of taking this opportunity to promote exchanges and cooperation between Shenyang and Quezon, and to organize a delegation to visit Shenyang as soon as possible. H.E. Korn Dabbaransi, Chairman of Thailand-China Friendship Association and former Deputy Prime Minister of Thailand, stated that Shenyang's experience in ecological environment protection was worth learning from and would definitely visit Shenyang in person. H.E. EK SAN OL,President of the Cambodian-China Friendship Association, stated that the global promotional activity "Hello Shenyang" had magnified Shenyang's international influence and reputation and Shenyang had significantly enhanced its internationalization level by various international activities.

The "Hello Shenyang" global promotional activity (Malaysia station) has deepened ASEAN countries' understanding of Shenyang, consolidated and expanded the friendly cooperation relation between Shenyang and ASEAN friendship organizations, and laid a good foundation for promoting practical exchanges and cooperation between Shenyang and ASEAN local governments.
