On November 14, Chen Shuangwei, Director of the Foreign Affairs Office of Shenyang Municipal People’s Government met with Consul General of the Gernman Consulate General in Shenyang, Hendrik Barkeling, and held working talks on the planning of 2024 exchanges and cooperation between the Foreign Affairs Office and the German Consulate General in Shenyang.

Director Chen Shuangwei said, Shenyang and Germany keep increasingly close contacts in all walks of life , and have a good foundation for cooperation in the fields of automobile manufacturing, high-end equipment, dual system of education and many other industries. On October 19, Deputy Secretary of the municipal party Committee, Mayor Lyu Zhicheng met with the German Embassy in China Minister Stephan Grabherr, which has brought the exchanges and cooperation in many fields between Shenyang and Germany to a new level, and hoped to further strengthen the economic and trade exchanges and friendly exchanges with Germany in the new year. 

Consul General Hendrik Barkeling expressed gratitude to the Foreign Affairs Office for providing strong support to the Consulate General's work, and highly praised the "Hello, Shenyang" global promotion series activities organized by the Foreign Affairs Office, as well as the measures to strengthen "Foreign Affairs Plus" and build an "International Shenyang". He also stated that in 2024, the Consulate General will continue to play a bridging role, providing support and assistance in political and business group visits, organizing exchange activities, and promoting cooperation.

Both sides have agreed to further strengthen cooperation in the following areas next year. Firstly, we will jointly invite high-level officials from the German political and business sectors to visit Shenyang and promote practical cooperation between Shenyang and Germany in multiple fields. The second is to jointly invite a German small and medium-sized enterprises delegation to visit Shenyang and promote the construction of the Shenyang Sino-German Small and Medium sized Enterprise Park project. The third is to jointly organize a series of cultural exchange activities called "Encounter of China and Germany " to promote friendship between the people and promote mutual understanding. The fourth is to support the German consulate in organizing the "Berlin Bear Painting Competition (collection activity)", implanting the Berlin bear painting into the Shenyang International Friendship Park, and creating it as a symbol of friendship between Shenyang and Germany and a popular check-in spot.
