On November 29th, Chen Shuangwei, Director of the Foreign Affairs Office of the Municipal Government, led a working group to visit Dr. Stephan Grabherr, Envoy of the German Embassy in China, and held discussion on deepening exchanges and cooperation in multiple fields such as economy, trade, and culture.

Director Chen Shuangwei stated that Shenyang attaches great importance to cooperation with Germany and has approved the establishment of 200 German funded enterprises cumulatively. Especially with the visit of German high level government and business officials such as Chancellor Merkel to Shenyang, exchanges and cooperation between Shenyang and Germany in various fields such as automobile manufacturing, high-end equipment, and dual education has been effectively promoted. The two sides have active economic and trade exchanges, and industrial cooperation continues to improve. As the largest manufacturing base and one of the most important new energy vehicle centers of BMW Group in the world, BMW Shenyang Manufacturing Base has invested nearly 100 billion yuan in Shenyang, with 120 suppliers investing in Liaoning and nearly 100 in Shenyang, attracting over 400 local suppliers and providing more than 26000 local job opportunities, making positive contributions to the development of automotive industry in Shenyang and even in China.In March of this year, Lyu Zhicheng, Deputy Party Secretary of CPC Shenyang Municipal Committee and Mayor, led a delegation to visit Germany and promoted 22 key projects, including the new BMW HVB project. In October this year, he met with the delegation led by Envoy Grabherr in Shenyang, and reached a consensus on comprehensively deepening cooperation with Germany, vigorously expanding cooperation areas, enriching cooperation content, and enhancing cooperation levels. Germany and Shenyang are both located in the golden industrial belt at 42 degrees north latitude, with similar geographical locations, close social connections, and harmonious business relationships. We sincerely invite high-level officials from the German political and business circles and German small and medium-sized enterprise groups to visit Shenyang, promote the development of the Sino-German SME Industrial Park, and deepen practical cooperation between Shenyang and Germany in multiple fields.

Dr. Grabherr stated that in 2024, the German Embassy in China will continue to play a bridging role and facilitate the first visit of Ambassador Flor to Shenyang as soon as possible. At the same time, it will promote mutual visits between political and business delegations from both sides, actively help more German enterprises understand and invest in Shenyang, and actively promote practical cooperation in various sectors such as international student exchange, ecological environment protection, and new energy to achieve mutual beneficial cooperation and win-win results.
