On December 13th, Cha Hong Kyu, Honorary Chairman of Korean-Chinese Art Association (KCAA), Retired Professor of Academy of Arts & Design of Tsinghua University, and renowned Korean painter and sculptor, led a delegation to visit Shenyang, and jointly signed a “Letter of Intent for Cooperation” with Zhang Hui, President of Shenyang International Economic and Cultural Development Promotion Association (SIECDPA). Liu Zhenning, Member of the Party Group of the Municipal Foreign Affairs Office and Deputy Secretary General of the Municipal Association for Foreign Friendship, Vice President Li Yijun, Secretary-General Zhang Xiaowei of SIECDPA, and Wang Ning, President of Heping Painting Academy, attended the signing ceremony.

Zhang Hui stated that the LOI reached between SIECDPA and KCAA lays the foundation for long-term cultural exchange and cooperation between China and ROK in the future. As an international exchange demonstration base in Shenyang, SIECDPA will actively carry out various themed activities to showcase the distinctive features of the city, promote outstanding traditional culture, and build more platforms for economic and cultural exchange. It will play an active role in promoting Shenyang’s opening up to the outside world and the high-quality development of economic and cultural undertakings.

Cha Hong Kyu observed an exhibition of excellent calligraphy, painting, and photography works by members of SIECDPA, marveling at the grandeur and beauty of Chinese landscapes and appreciating the superb skills of Shenyang artists. He expressed his welcome for Shenyang artists to bring excellent works to ROK and jointly hold an art exhibition on friendly exchanges between the people of two countries at the National Assembly Hall of ROK.

Liu Zhenning congratulates the two associations on reaching the LOI. He stated that next year, Shenyang will make every effort to create an upgraded version of "International Shenyang", enrich the international quality and connotation of the city, and further enhance the overseas influence of the "Hello, Shenyang" global promotion activity brand. He hopes that both sides can take this signing as an opportunity to jointly plan and hold a series of themed friendly exchange activities for 2024, and contribute to the deepening of cultural exchanges between China and ROK.

In August this year, SIECDPA was awarded the title of "Shenyang International Exchange Demonstration Base".
