On August 3-4, Liu Zhenning, Deputy Secretary General of Shenyang Municipal People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, led a working group to participate in the 7th China Germany U16 Youth Football Invitational Tournament in Haikou. During the event, the delegation held work meeting with Kurz, Chairman of Rhein-Neckar Metropolitan Region Germany-China Friendship Association of Germany, and Vice Chairman of Germany-China Friendship Association Federation.

Both sides jointly reviewed the "2016 4th China Germany Youth (U16) Football Invitation Tournament" hosted by Shenyang Municipal People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, and looked forward to the 8th U16 China Germany Youth Football Invitation Tournament to be held in Mannheim, Germany next year, to further deepen exchanges in the fields of youth and sports between the two sides. Both sides also discussed and promoted the Sino German SME Park project, and reached a consensus on specific cooperation content.

During their stay in Haikou, the working group reported their work to Lyu Hongwei, Deputy Director of the Eurasian Department of the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, and had a work exchange with Cai Na, Director of Haikou Foreign Affairs Office. They reached a preliminary intention to establish a cooperation mechanism for foreign affairs work.
