Since last year, Foreign Affairs Office of Shenyang Municipal Government has initiated the “Foreign Affairs plus Sports” cooperation mechanism and worked with Shenyang Sports Bureau to strengthen cooperation in the sports sector between Shenyang and its international friendship cities. With joint efforts, an agreement on exchanges and cooperation was signed between Shenyang Municipal Sports Bureau and Chuncheon Municipal Sports Association. The two cities agreed to send football teams to each other to attend the Peace Cup International Youth Football Tournament in Shenyang and Son Heung-Min International Youth Friendship Football Games in Chuncheon respectively. This is the second time that Chuncheon has sent football teams to join the Peace Cup. During their stay in Shenyang, Chuncheon Sports Delegation also visited Shenyang Sports School and Shenyang Military Sports and Land Sports School to explore exchanges projects and cooperation potential in the sports sector.

As the capital city of Gangwon Province, ROK, Chuncheon covers an area of 1,116 square kilometers and a population of 280,000 and has been known as the origin of Hallyu. Shenyang and Chuncheon established friendship city relationship in 2017 and has maintained concrete exchanges in sectors such as economy and trade, culture, sports and youth activities. Fruitful results have been made in the frequent and constant exchanges between youth of the two cities.
