"Hello Shenyang" Global Promotion Event (Munich) was recently held in Munich, Germany. More than 150 representatives from the German political and business sectors attended the event. This promotion event is hosted by Shenyang Municipal Government, aiming to showcase the new appearance of Shenyang in all dimensions, help attract investment and talents, deepen international economic and trade cooperation, and promote cultural exchanges.

At the promotion event, Foreign Affairs Office of Shenyang Municipal People's Government, Shenyang Municipal Commerce Bureau, Shenyang Automobile Co.,Ltd, Tiexi District, and Dadong District highlighted the success of the "Hello Shenyang" global promotion series events launched last year, focusing on the new upward trend of Shenyang's economic and social development, as well as the overall goal of building a national central city in the new year. They underscored Shenyang's commitment to becoming an international central city in Northeast Asia and a hub for opening up and cooperation in Northeast Asia, and to making new breakthroughs in ten key development areas, including promoting high-level opening up. They sincerely invited guests present to visit Shenyang and promote exchanges and cooperation in multiple fields between Shenyang and Germany. Representatives of the attending guests expressed their willingness to serve as a bridge and make contributions to deepening exchanges and cooperation between Germany and Shenyang in various fields.

Wang Xinwei, deputy secretary of the CPC Liaoning provincial committee and secretary of the CPC Shenyang municipal committee, said in his speech that Shenyang has maintained long-term sound economic and trade cooperation and cultural exchanges with Germany. The Third Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China held in July this year drew a grand blueprint for further deepening reform in an all-round way. China's new development will bring new opportunities to the world. It is hoped that the 10th anniversary of the establishment of all-round strategic partnership between China and Germany will be taken as an opportunity to promote the cooperation between Shenyang and relevant parties in Germany to achieve new fruitful results and make positive contributions to enhancing the friendship between China and Germany. Shenyang is an innovative, creative, open, inclusive and livable city, with rich culture and huge business opportunities. There are broad prospects and huge potential for Shenyang-Germany cooperation. It is hoped that in the future, both sides can jointly promote industrial development, expand the consumer market, promote scientific and technological innovation, deepen cultural exchanges, and write a new chapter of mutual benefit and win-win cooperation.

Lin Kai, acting consul general at the Chinese consulate in Munich, said that China and Germany have achieved gratifying results in many fields such as economy, finance and green development over the years, becoming a model of international cooperation. In the first half of this year, German investment in China hit a record of 7.3 billion euros, which fully demonstrates the confidence of German companies in the Chinese market. Companies of the two countries have conducted practical cooperation and complementary advantages in various fields, and achieved shared interests and win-win results. Bilateral economic and trade cooperation has not only become the solid foundation of China-Germany relations, but also the anchor of stability of China-Europe relations. We welcome German friends to make good use of this opportunity to explore business opportunities and expand markets in China.

Zhu Ling, Director of Shenyang Municipal Commerce Bureau, stated that in 2023, the total import and export volume between Shenyang and Germany was 33.29 billion yuan, ranking first among 219 countries and regions that have trade relations with Shenyang. As of July 2024, Shenyang has approved the establishment of 207 German funded enterprises. Especially BMW has invested over 100 billion yuan in Shenyang, and the BMW Shenyang production base has become one of the most important production bases of the BMW Group worldwide. It is hoped that we can take this event as an opportunity to further expand cooperation between Shenyang and relevant parties in Germany in areas such as advanced manufacturing, emerging industries, modern service industries, and integrated development of culture, sports, and tourism.

Dr. Volker Letzgus, Vice President of Joint Ventures China, BMW group, stated that Shenyang is an important strategic base of BMW Group. Since its establishment in 2003, the BMW Shenyang Plant has continued to grow steadily and is now one of the largest production bases of the BMW Group in the world, contributing one-third of the global BMW vehicle production. This year, the 6 millionth BMW vehicle was successfully rolled off at the Shenyang factory, marking Shenyang's important position in BMW's global layout. Looking ahead, BMW will continue to deepen its cooperation with Shenyang and jointly promote the sustainable and healthy development of its production base in Shenyang.
