BMW Brilliance launched
a new project in Shenyang.
On October 21,
the launching ceremony
of BMW Brilliance
geothermal energy project
was held in Shenyang.
The BMW Brilliance geothermal energy project is designed to drill 28 medium-deep geothermal wells, with a total heating area of approximately 580,000 square meters, and is scheduled for operational use in the heating season of 2025.
When the project is completed, BMW Brilliance will realize 100 percent non-fossil energy heating at its powertrain plant and gen6 battery center in Shenyang. The project is expected to achieve an annual carbon emission reduction of 18,000 tons.
"We believe that investing in sustainable development is investing in the future. We continuously utilize innovative thinking and technology to optimize the carbon footprint of the Shenyang production base, and replace fossil fuels with diverse clean energy sources to promote energy transition according to local conditions. Starting today, our exploration of geothermal energy has entered a new chapter. In Shenyang, this favored destination, we'll keep working hard and team up with local partners to create a new quality productive forces system based on low-carbon sustainability," said Dr. Franz Decker, President & CEO of BMW Brilliance Automotive Ltd., at the launching ceremony.
In this geothermal energy project, BMW Brilliance is expected to adopt a number of industry-leading technologies to collect renewable geothermal energy in a pollution-free and zero-emission manner. The energy exploration will be carried in an enclosed process.
This project has important practical significance for achieving clean heating and improving winter air quality in China's northern region.
