On January 8th, Chen Shuangwei, Director of the Foreign Affairs Office of the Municipal Government (FAO) and Secretary General of Shenyang People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, led a working group to Beijing to visit the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC). They held working talks with Vice Presidents Jiang Jiang and Yuan Mindao, as well as the heads of the Departments European and Asian Affairs and East AsianAffairs of CPAFFC. They had in-depth discussions on topics such as broadening channels of people-to-people diplomacy, deepening people-to-people exchanges and cooperation, and promoting culture mutual learning.
Chen Shuangwei gave a detailed report on the significant achievements made by Shenyang in 2024 in advancing the construction of“International Shenyang”, creating the“Hello Shenyang”global promotion events brand, and promoting people-to-people exchanges and cooperation. In 2025, Shenyang will focus on the goal of the development as an international central city in Northeast Asia. Shenyang will continue to make efforts in international friendship cities construction, economic and trade cooperation, and upgrading the "Hello Shenyang" and "International Shenyang" brands. It is the hope that the CPAFFC will provide more support and guidance to Shenyang in hosting high levelinternational foreign affairs events with rich content and great influence. Shenyang will further broaden the international vision, enhance the modernization and influence, effectively play the role of a local foreign affairs institution, and better serve the social and economic development of Shenyang and the overall diplomacy of the country.
Jiang Jiang and Yuan Mindao spoke highly ofthe achievements made by Shenyang in people-to-people diplomacy, and stated that the CPAFFC would continue to fully support Shenyang in carrying out international people-to-people friendly exchanges, and promoting the high-level opening-up and high-quality development of the city. The working group had in-depth discussion with the Departments European and Asian Affairs and East Asian Affairs on the key work for 2025, and reached a broad consensus, especially on strengthening people-to-people exchanges with the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Japan, Republic of Korea, RECP members and countries along the Belt and Road route.
