On July 23rd, to mark the 15th anniversary of the establishment of friendly cooperative relations between Shenyang and Hamamatsu, Japan, the "Hello, Shenyang" International Friendship City Mayors' Exchange Day (Shenyang - Hamamatsu) - Cultural and Tourism Promotion Exchange Conference was successfully held in Shenyang.
This event was co-hosted by the Shenyang Municipal People's Government and the Hamamatsu Municipal Government, and co-organized by the Foreign Affairs Office of Shenyang Municipal People's Government, Shenyang Municipal Bureau of Culture, Tourism, Radio and Television, the Department of Tourism and Brand Promotion, and the Department of Industry of Hamamatsu City. Relevant leaders of the Shenyang Municipal Government and the Hamamatsu Municipal Government attended the event and delivered speeches. The Department of Tourism and Brand Promotion of Hamamatsu City and the Shenyang Municipal Bureau of Culture, Tourism, Radio and Television respectively promoted the cultural and tourism resources and characteristics of the cultural and tourism industries of both cities. More than 30 representatives from Shenyang travel agencies participated in the event and conducted exchanges and interactions with representatives from the tourism industry in Hamamatsu to enhance mutual learning, draw on each other's experiences, and explore cooperation potential.
In their speeches, the leaders of the two cities stated that since the establishment of friendly cooperative relations, the cooperation fields between Shenyang and Hamamatsu have continued to expand, and the level of exchanges and cooperation has been continuously improved. They hope that with the 15th anniversary of the establishment of relations as a new starting point, the two sides will further strengthen exchanges and cooperation in cultural tourism, economic and trade cooperation, people-to-people exchanges and other fields, consolidate the foundation of friendship, deepen practical cooperation, seek mutual benefit and win-win results, and continuously contribute local efforts to comprehensively promote the China-Japan strategic and mutually beneficial relations.
Hamamatsu is the birthplace of Japan's light vehicles, auxiliary power bicycles, Japanese-made pianos and televisions. It has a developed musical instrument industry (represented by enterprises such as Yamaha and Kawai), textile industry, and optoelectronic industry. Hamamatsu is rich in tourism resources, including the historic Hamamatsu Castle, Lake Hamana (a well-known eel-producing area), and Nakatajima Sand Dunes, one of Japan's three major sand dunes. The two cities established friendly cooperative relations in August 2010.
