Seo Lan, Chief Representative of the representative office of Daejeon Metropolitan City Government, ROK in Shenyang and her delegation visited the Foreign Affairs Office of the Municipal Government. Deputy Director Guo Hongyan met with the delegation.

Guo Hongyan introduced the upward momentum of development, solid and strong industrial foundation, and unceasing display of advantages in opening up in Shenyang, and reviewed the history of friendly exchanges between the two cities. He stated that the Foreign Affairs Office of the Municipal Government is fully implementing the three-year action plan for comprehensive revitalization and the campaign of "Being a Pioneer and Achieving New Breakthrough in All-round Revitalization", strengthening "Foreign Affairs+" , building an "International Shenyang", continuously promoting the "Hello, Shenyang" global brand and has successfully held a series of "Hello, Shenyang" global promotion events in Tokyo(Japan), Hong Kong(China), Paris(France), Geneva(Switzerland), Seoul(ROK) and other places. Guo Hongyan expressed gratitude to the Daejeon City Government for its firm support in the 2024 ROK-Shenyang Activity Week and “Hello Shenyang” Global Promotion Event (Seoul). In 2024, the Foreign Affairs Office of the Municipal Government will make every effort to create an upgraded version of "Foreign Affairs+" and "International Shenyang". It is hoped that the two cities will work together to promote high-level visits, deepen practical cooperation in the fields of new generation of information technology, biopharmaceutical and medical equipment, cutting-edge technology research and development, aerospace technology, and artificial intelligence technology, strengthen communication and interaction in the fields of culture, sports, tourism and youth, and build a platform of exchanges and cooperation  for enterprises, schools, and research institutes between the two cities.

Seo Lan stated that the government of Daejeon City attaches great importance to the development of friendly relations between the two cities. Next, it will actively promote the new look, new achievements, and new opportunities of Shenyang to enterprises, business associations, and various sectors of society in Daejeon City. It is her hope to work with Shenyang City to consolidate the foundation of friendship between the two cities and promote exchanges and cooperation at a higher level and in a wider range of fields.

Daejeon City is one of the six major metropolitan cities in ROK, with an area of approximately 540km2 and a population of approximately 1.5 million. It is the most important tech city and is known as the "Silicon Valley of ROK". Since the establishment of friendship cities in 2013, Shenyang and Daejeon have carried out numerous practical exchanges and cooperation in areas such as economy and trade, science and technology, culture, sports, and youth. In 2016, recommended by Shenyang, Daejeon City was awarded the "Friendship City for Exchanges and Cooperation with China" by Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries and China International Friendship Cities Association.
