On September 10th, Chen Shuangwei, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and Director of Shenyang Foreign Affairs Office, and Secretary General of  Shenyang People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, and Luise Däger-Gregori, Vice President of the Organization for Promoting Austrian-Chinese Relations, signed an agreement to establish friendly cooperative relations on behalf of both sides at the Vienna City Council.

Both sides have agreed to promote the development of friendly city relations and talent exchanges, strengthen extensive exchanges between governments, enterprises, scientific research institutions, and cultural groups, and promote cooperation between professional talents.They have agreed to strengthen cooperation in the fields of economy and trade, smart city construction, healthcare, new energy, and new technology. Cooperation in the fields of culture, sports, and tourism will also be strengthened. The Organization will support Shenyang in hosting the 15th National Winter Games in 2028. Both sides will jointly promote mutual visits and exchanges between artists, cultural institutions, and performance groups. Education cooperation will also be deepened. The Organization for Promoting Austrian-Chinese Relations will assist Shenyang in conducting training for primary and secondary school teachers, further enhancing Shenyang's competitiveness in the international education field.

Chen Shuangwei stated that this year marks the 53rd anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Austria. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations, both sides have adhered to mutual respect, trust, mutual benefit and win-win results, promoting the continuous development of bilateral relations. Shenyang and Vienna have broad prospects for cooperation. We should seize the opportunity, plan thoroughly, strengthen cooperation in traditional fields such as economy and trade, and carry out in-depth exchanges in fields such as smart cities, culture, education, science and technology, and new energy.

Gregori stated that the agreement is not only a milestone in the friendly relations between Shenyang and Vienna, but also lays a solid foundation for future cooperation between the two sides, which will promote more practical cooperation results in the fields like economy, culture, education.
