Shenyang Taoxian International Airport continues to record high annual passenger throughput. As of Dec 22, it exceeded 20 million,marking a milestone for the Shenyang airport to become one of the busiest airports in China.
The Shenyang airport was first put into use in 1989. And in 2011, the airport handled more than 10 million passengers for the first time, making it one of the busiest airports in Northeast China.
Over the 13th Five-Year Plan Period(2016-20), the Shenyang airport has witnessed increasing passenger flows year by year.
It is estimated that it will handle 143,900 flights and 205 million passengers by the end of 2019, and the cargo throughput will reach 190,000 tons—ranking the first among all the airports in Northeast China region. It represents increase by 62 percent, 45 percent and 34 percent compared with those in the end of the 12th Five-Year Plan Period (2011-15).
Jiao Yanhong, vice manager of Shenyang Taoxian International Airport Co, introduced that Shenyang is connected to domestic and overseas cities via 203 flight routes. Among which, 19 flight routes are running between countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative, the China-Japan-South Korea Economic Cooperation Circle and the China-Russia-Mongolia Economic Corridor.
Also, the airport is forming an intercontinental flight route network representing by the Shenyang-Los Angeles route, the Shenyang-Frankfurt route and the Shenyang-Vancouver route.
This year, the international passenger flow of the Shenyang airport is expected to reach a record high of 1.85 million.
