Dadong district in Shenyang, the capital city of Northeast China’s Liaoning province, has made the list of China's top 100 main urban areas in 2020.
The honor was recently revealed with the release of the “2020 Report on China's County Economic Development,” a document compiled by the National Academy of Economic Strategy of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
The report focuses on tracking, evaluating and researching China’s main urban areas with a gross domestic product value of more than 70 billion yuan ($10.50 billion).
The title is the second honor that Dadong has obtained this year. The district was previously ranked 69th among China's top 100 industrial districts in 2020 and first among all Liaoning districts.
This year, Dadong district is expected to complete a total regional product value of 72.2 billion yuan and a gross industrial output value above the designated size of 155.03 billion yuan.
It will also complete a fixed asset investment of 15.7 billion yuan, an increase of 32.6 percent. Meanwhile, the district’s per capita disposable income is estimated to reach 48,572 yuan, increasing by 1.5 percent.
Dadong district, established in January 1938, is one of the oldest districts in Shenyang city.
The district has formed a development pattern dominated by the automobile industry, with multiple sectors competing for growth. Its full industrial scale has grown steadily, and an intelligent, digital and green development trend has gradually emerged, according to the principal of the CPC Dadong District Committee.
