"Hello, Shenyang" China-France Friendship Exchange Day & "Smart Convergence for a Shared Future" World Water Day Themed Event Successfully Held

On March 22, the "Hello, Shenyang" China-France Friendship Exchange Day & World Water Day themed event was successfully held at Liaoning University, jointly organized by the Foreign Affairs Office of Shenyang Municipal People’s Government, Shenyang Water Conservancy Bureau, Shenyang People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, and the Consulate General of France in Shenyang, undertaken by Liaoning University, and supported by Suez Technologie de l'Environnement(Pékin) and Shenyang Xinji Development Co., Ltd. Under the theme “Smart Convergence for a Shared Future”, the event brought together over a hundred representatives from Chinese and French government and enterprises, as well as university faculty and students, to strengthen friendship and explore collaborative development.Chen Shuangwei, Director of the Foreign Affairs Office of Shenyang Municipal People’s Government and President of Shenyang People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, stated that the successful hosting of this event represents Shenyang's concrete actions to serve the nation's overall diplomacy and pursue high-level opening-up as it advances its goal of becoming an international central city in Northeast Asia. Shenyang will take this exchange event as a new starting point to further strengthen China-France cooperation in areas such as water resources protection, ecological environment governance, technological innovation, and talent exchange, joining hands to build a community with a shared future for mankind and a clean and beautiful home.Emmanuel Loriot, Consul General of France in Shenyang, remarked in his address that this event extends far beyond water cooperation—it concerns the long-term goals of public health, environmental protection, resource conservation, and biodiversity. He expressed the Consulate General's commitment to continuing its role as a bridge, facilitating more concrete outcomes and passing on the torch of France-China friendship.Ye Liang, Deputy Director of Shenyang Water Conservancy Bureau, noted in his speech that Shenyang's water sector holds vast potential for development. He emphasized that during the 15th Five-Year Plan period, the city will continue to deeply implement General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important principles on water governance based on the rule of law, further strengthen international cooperation, and jointly advance sustainable development.Fang Ning, Deputy General Manager of Shenyang Xinji Development Co., Ltd., stated that as a key municipal enterprise deeply rooted in Shenyang and specializing in ecological water management, solid waste treatment, and industrial empowerment, Xinji Development will join forces with Suez Technologie de l'Environnement to open a new chapter of coordinated development in water and environmental protection. He pledged to continuously deepen exchanges and cooperation, fully supporting Shenyang's high-quality development and ecological civilization construction.Liu Yongkai, Government Affairs Director of Suez Technologie de l'Environnement (Asia), expressed that this event marks a crucial opportunity for SUEZ to expand into Northeast China. It will further promote the integration of industry, academia, and research, continuously supporting Shenyang's green transformation and high-quality development.Huo Chunhui, Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of Liaoning University, highlighted that this exchange event is not only a gathering for sharing China-France environmental concepts and technologies but also an important platform for deepening university-enterprise cooperation and innovating talent cultivation models at Liaoning University. Liaoning University will collaborate with Suez Technologie de l'Environnement and Shenyang Xinji Development Co., Ltd. to jointly advance talent development, technological innovation, and the transformation of achievements, contributing wisdom and strength to Shenyang's green and low-carbon transition.At the event, Chen Shuangwei and Emmanuel Loriot, representing the Chinese and French sides, jointly watered ivy plants using distinctive containers, symbolizing enduring ecological cooperation and ever-lasting friendship. Liaoning University, Suez Technologie de l'Environnement (Pékin), and Shenyang Xinji Development Co., Ltd. signed a joint memorandum of cooperation, committing to practical collaboration in technological breakthroughs, talent cultivation, and outcome commercialization, thereby laying a solid innovation foundation for green development. Experts and scholars from Liaoning University, Suez Technologie de l'Environnement (Pékin), and Shenyang Xinji Development Co., Ltd. shared cutting-edge concepts and practical cases from perspectives including environmental economics, resource utilization, and constructed wetland ecological restoration. They also engaged in interactive Q&A sessions with faculty and students, conducting in-depth discussions on new avenues for cooperation in the ecological and environmental protection sector.
