American Chinese Youth Delegation Visits Shenyang

From July 10 to 14, a delegation of 21 American Chinese youths from the States of Illinois and North Carolina visited Shenyang for a four-day cultural exploration and exchange program.

At Shenyang Hongqiao Junior Middle School, the delegation embarked on an in-depth educational exchange. In the Red Culture Corridor, the echoes of history drew the young visitors into contemplative silence. In the choir rehearsal hall, Chinese and American youths sang I Love You, China together, with their moving voices deeply touching every teacher and student present. On the basketball court, players from both sides competed alongside each other, forging friendships through fierce competition. In the calligraphy classroom, everyone focused intently, writing Chinese characters stroke by stroke, experiencing the profound heritage of traditional Chinese culture amid the fragrance of ink.

At Shenyang University, the delegation engaged in rich cultural activities. From painting Peking Opera facial masks to learning clay sculpture techniques and practicing Tai Chi, they revived their cultural genes and rekindled cultural memories through hands-on experiences. In Chinese language classes, the sound of reading aloud showcased the charm of the language and bridged the distance between students of both countries.

At Liaoning Academy of Agricultural Sciences, the delegation gained an in-depth understanding of modern agricultural technology, and the grain and vegetable supply, which is vital to people’s livelihoods. The delegation also visited the Training Base of Red Cross Society of China Liaoning Branch, where they learned emergency rescue skills alongside Chinese youths, enhancing their mutual assistance capabilities through practice.

This event served as a vivid example of Shenyang’s people-to-people diplomacy in implementing General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important statement that “the hope of the China-U.S.relationship lies in the people, its foundation is in our societies, its future depends on the youth, and its vitality comes from exchanges at subnational levels.” It added another chapter to Shenyang’s efforts in telling the story of China well in the new era and deepening the friendly ties between Chinese and American youths.
