Gwangyang Youth Football Team of ROK Wins the U17 Championship of the Peace Cup International Juvenile Football Tournament

From August 11th to 18th, Jeong Seungjae, Director of Steel & Port Department (Foreign affairs) of Gwangyang, ROK, led a 32-member delegation and a youth football team to visit Shenyang and participate in the 11th Peace Cup International Juvenile Football Tournament. They successfully won the U17 championship with good performance.

This is the first time that Gwangyang has sent a team to participate in the Peace Cup International Juvenile Football Tournament. Their participation not only adds greater international character to the event but also builds a new bridge for friendly exchanges and cooperation between the two cities.

During their stay in Shenyang, the delegation also visited China-ROK International Economic and Trade Industrial Park, Shenyang Area of China (Liaoning) Pilot Free Trade Zone and Shenyang Urban Planning Exhibition Hall to gain detailed understanding of Shenyang's innovative measures and fruitful achievements in promoting opening-up, as well as its profound historical and cultural heritage and unique charm.

Located at the southernmost tip of ROK, Gwangyang covers an area of 465 square kilometers with a population of approximately 160,000. As a major port city, its pillar industries are steel and logistics. It is home to POSCO’s Gwangyang Steelworks, the world's largest single steel-producing facility, and Gwangyang Port, which ranks 11th globally in terms of cargo throughput. Shenyang and Gwangyang established a friendly and cooperative relationship in May 2007.
