Shenyang Attends the "2025 InChina Forum" and Conducts Friendly Exchanges

From September 1 to 4, Liu Zhenning, member of the Party Leadership Group of the Municipal Foreign Affairs Office and full-time Vice President of the Municipal People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, led a delegation to South Korea to participate in the "2025 InChina Forum" and carry out a series of friendly exchange activities.

On September 2, the "2025 InChina Forum", co-hosted by Incheon Metropolitan City of South Korea and the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in the Republic of Korea, was held in Incheon. With the theme of "An Era of Transformation, The World and ROK-China Relations”, this forum was attended by representatives from provinces and cities including Yunnan, Shandong, Tianjin, Shenyang, Dalian, Changchun, Qingdao and Weihai, as well as nearly 600 people from all walks of life such as experts, scholars, entrepreneurs and youth representatives from both countries.

Dai Bing, Chinese Ambassador to the Republic of Korea, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech. He pointed out that since its establishment a decade ago, the InChina Forum has provided an important platform for promoting local, economic, trade, cultural and people-to-people exchanges and cooperation between the two countries. Faced with the complex and changing international situation, China's fundamentals of maintaining long-term steady development will remain unchanged, and its foreign policy of high-level opening-up will also remain unchanged. Both sides should firmly implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, strengthen exchanges and cooperation, pursue mutual benefit and win-win results, work together to push the China-ROK strategic cooperative partnership to a higher level, and jointly safeguard international free trade and economic globalization.

Yoo Jeong-bok, Mayor of Incheon, delivered a keynote speech. He said that over the past 33 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between South Korea and China, exchanges and cooperation in various fields have achieved remarkable results. Incheon attaches great importance to cooperation with China and is willing to leverage its own advantages, further make good use of platforms such as the InChina Forum, promote in-depth and practical local exchanges and economic and trade cooperation between the two countries, and actively contribute to building a mutually trusting, balanced and sustainable ROK-China relationship.

During the forum, the delegation held talks with the Incheon Municipal Government on enhancing exchanges and cooperation between the two cities. Kim Young-sin, Director of the International Bureau of Incheon Metropolitan City, stated that Incheon and Shenyang are geographically close and have strong industrial complementarity, promising broad space for future cooperation. The "Sister City Mayors' Exchange Day" held successfully last year has played a guiding role in deepening the friendly ties between the two cities. Park Joo-bong, Director of the Incheon Chamber of Commerce and Industry, stated that he is willing to strengthen exchanges with Shenyang in areas such as youth and culture, laying a foundation for consolidating China-ROK friendship. The delegation conducted in-depth exchanges with guests from other participating cities, expanding the "circle of friends" for promoting wider-ranging, deeper, and higher-level foreign exchanges of our city.

During the visit, the delegation visited the Korea Culture and Sports Exchange Association, and discussed with its President Lee Youngtaek the organization of China-ROK sports exchanges, striving to jointly create youth-themed brand activities with greater international influence. The delegation also visited the Korea-China Regional Economic Association, and held talks with its President Rhee Sang-gi on advancing more exchanges and interactions in economic and trade cooperation, industrial matchmaking, and people-to-people and cultural exchanges. The delegation visited the Korea-China Exchange Association, and discussed with its President Kim Yongdeok the promotion of exchanges and cooperation in education, culture, youth and other fields. It paid a visit to the Korea-China Fine Arts Association, and exchanged views with its President Cha Hongkyu on the 2025 China-ROK Art Exchange Activity.

By leveraging the platform of the "2025 InChina Forum", the delegation conducted in-depth exchanges through visits to multiple departments and institutions. It earnestly implemented our city's non-governmental foreign strategy of "Deepening Engagement with South Korea", continuously expanded the breadth and depth of non-governmental diplomacy with South Korea, and made every effort to tell Shenyang's stories and spread Shenyang's voice.
