On May 26, Sun Ye, Secretary of the Leading Party Members' Group and Director of the Foreign Affairs Office of Shenyang Municipal People's Government, met with Annette Sévery, Consul General of the German Consulate General in Shenyang. The two sides held working talks covering high-level exchanges, friendship city relations, economic and trade cooperation and other fields.

Director Sun Ye expressed gratitude to Consul General Annette Sévery and the German Consulate General in Shenyang for their support and interest in the economic and social development of Shenyang. She noted that Shenyang and Germany share a long history of friendly exchanges. Shenyang has maintained a friendship city relationship with Düsseldorf for over 40 years and established friendly cooperative ties with Magdeburg. The two sides have conducted fruitful exchanges in intelligent manufacturing, culture, education and other sectors. In terms of economic and trade cooperation, BMW Brilliance has grown into the largest production base of the BMW Group worldwide. A number of renowned German enterprises including ZF and OTTO FUCHS have settled and thrived in Shenyang. Meanwhile, local companies such as Shenyang Blue Silver Industry Automation Equipment, Northern Heavy Industries Group, and Shengu Group have actively gone global, investing in and setting up R&D centers and manufacturing facilities in Germany. In terms of people-to-people exchanges, Shenyang Foreign Affairs Office and the German Consulate General have jointly hosted a series of friendly events, including the “Love in Shenyang” Beethoven’s Music Appreciation Concert, China-Germany International Beer Festival, and “Hello, Shenyang” China-Germany Friendship Night. The Shenyang International Marathon and Shenyang Peace Cup International Juvenile Football Tournament have also drawn active participation from numerous German friends. Currently, Shenyang is accelerating its development into an international central city in Northeast Asia and striving to build “one hub and four centers”. Going forward, Shenyang will further deepen cooperation with Germany by prioritizing high-level mutual visits, expanding the friendship city networks, strengthening economic and trade ties and advancing the development of an international city. Shenyang will keep fostering a world-class international business environment, so that more German friends can get to know Shenyang, visit Shenyang, settle down in Shenyang, and realize their dreams in Shenyang.

Consul General Annette Sévery stated that since she assumed her post in Shenyang last July, she has been deeply impressed by the city's infrastructure, environment, industrial development, history and culture. The German Consulate General will work closely with Shenyang Foreign Affairs Office to continuously advance exchanges and cooperation between the two sides in intelligent manufacturing, environmental protection, friendship city relations, culture, food and other fields.
