On May 26, a working group led by Sun Ye, Secretary of the Leading Party Members' Group and Director of the Foreign Affairs Office of Shenyang Municipal People's Government, held a meeting with William Coleman, Consul General at the US Consulate General in Shenyang.

Director Sun Ye stated that in recent years, Shenyang has engaged in extensive and in-depth exchanges with the United States in various sectors, delivering growing cooperation outcomes across multiple fields and increasingly closer people-to-people bonds. Notably, the sister city relationship between Shenyang and Chicago has spanned four decades, with an ever-stronger foundation of mutual trust and dynamic pragmatic exchanges and cooperation. Not long ago, President Trump paid a state visit to China, during which the two sides agreed to build a constructive China-US relationship of strategic stability, setting a clear direction for sub-national exchanges and cooperation. It is hoped that Shenyang FAO will continue to work hand in hand with the US Consulate General to further promote exchanges and cooperation in sister-city ties, economy, trade, people-to-people and cultural engagement, and student exchange programs, jointly opening a new chapter in sub-national China-U.S. relations.

Consul General William Coleman noted that he will follow the direction set by the two heads of state to translate bilateral consensus into tangible outcomes in Shenyang. The U.S. Consulate General stands ready to, as always, strengthen exchanges and cooperation with the Foreign Affairs Office of Shenyang Municipal Government, drive deeper and more substantive sister city interactions, invite more U.S. enterprises to participate in large-scale economic and trade events in Shenyang, and continuously advance cooperation in fields like agriculture, people-to-people and cultural exchanges.
