The National Energy Administration recently released the list of the first batch of pilot cities for the construction and capacity improvement of a new-type power system.Shenyang has been selected as one of the first 10 pilot cities in the country.
The new-type power system is a power system for the new era. It takes ensuring energy and power security as the basic premise, meeting the power demand of high-quality economic and social development as the primary goal, building a high-proportion new energy supply and consumption system as the main task, relying on the multi-directional coordination and flexible interaction of source, grid, load and storage as the strong support, adopting a strong, intelligent and flexible power grid as the hub platform, and applying technological innovation and institutional innovation as the fundamental guarantee.The new-type power system is also an important part of the new energy system and a key carrier for achieving the "dual carbon" goals.
Shenyang's approved pilot program for the construction and capacity improvement of a new-type power system mainly covers four innovative directions, namely smart microgrids, virtual power plants, grid-forming technologies, and flexibility retrofitting of new-generation coal-fired power.It will rely on four demonstration projects, including the smart microgrid with coordinated generation-grid-load-storage of the China-Germany Equipment Manufacturing Industrial Park in Shenyang, the virtual power plant management platform of the China-Germany Equipment Manufacturing Industrial Park in Shenyang, the Liaozhong Jinghe 100 MW hybrid energy storage power station, and the peak-shaving flexibility retrofitting of electrode boilers of the Shenxi Thermal Power Plant, to put forward targeted ideas for the construction of a new-type power system, addressing the problems such as the difficulties in new energy consumption and insufficient system regulation capacity.
